COACH Lee Smith says Latchford Albion's current squad offers a bright future for the club.

Currently undefeated in their opening four games in North West Men's League Division One, it is the perfect start inside their plush new Victoria Park Stadium home that is also the base for Warrington Wolves' reserves and Academy matches.

Little things are making a difference; with committee members and ex-players offering vital time and support to create a match-day atmosphere that offers supporters hot and cold refreshments, including a bar.

Attendances have increased, consistently in excess of 100.

And all of this has helped to attract new players, leaving Albion in their strongest position for many years.

"The success we are encountering is the result of the hard work the club has put in over the last couple of seasons both on and off the field," said Smith.

Spring View were the latest opponents to feel the force of his rejuvenated squad.

"Our collisions in the tackle are unbelievable," he said.

"As a group it is where we have focused our attention and we are reaping the rewards.

"There are still a few players who haven't been fully available for various reasons but all together this is the most talented squad of players I've been involved with which points to a sustained period of success for this great club."

Wigan Spring View 6 Latchford Albion 34

ALBION were quick out of the blocks and opened up a 12-0 lead inside 10 minutes through tries from Danny Brown and Ryan Skidmore, with Luke Hickman converting both.

Wigan responded with a converted try but Connor Muir marked his return from injury with a well taken score which again Hickman converted.

The impressive Stu Simm put the game out of Wigan's reach when he brushed off two defenders to squeeze in at the corner.

Latchford continued to dominate and Hickman and Lewis Wightman both crossing for converted tries.

Albion's next game is at home to Golborne Parkside on Saturday, May 7, at 2.30pm.
