DEREK Bibby made the most of a good draw to record a third win of the year in our popular disabled and over 60s series.

Stationed near Hough’s Bridge at the Dead Length section of the Bridgewater Canal, he fished maggot and caster on the pole to put 7-9-10 of perch and roach on the scales.

Lenny Dutton’s 6-3-4 haul earned him a runner-up prize.

The lowest weight between Walton and Hough’s Bridges was 3-11-0, but anglers’ tallies when drawn beyond the latter plummeted as far as 11oz.

Dave Tranter was not put off by parking challenges at our Carterhouse stretch of the Sankey Canal.

Fishing a small waggler and loose-feeding maggot, he found roach and rudd in hungry mood.

Casting across to the far shelf, he ended his session with 26 fish – some weighing around the 1lb mark.

According to our bailiffs at Wigan, there are roach and a few carp reported from ‘C’ and ‘D’ (Forster’s Pools) although access to our car park is restricted and members should park considerately on the road.

Meanwhile at our Woodshaw Reservoir, roach are being caught from most pegs along with a few chub and crucians.

In the coming weeks, members may find access disrupted to parts of Worthington Lakes while essential maintenance work is done to improve footpaths and general safety.

Some sections may be closed, and there will be a need to shut the car park at short notice whenever contractors are on site.

Many thanks to those members who have sent me cracking photographs of their catches for use on our display boards at next week’s Northern Angling Show (we’re at stand 456) at EventCity in Manchester.

There is room for more, but I need images as soon as possible.

Our headquarters at Parker Street are open every Friday, from 7pm, for night-permit renewals, subscriptions, memberships and any queries.

Keep sending catch reports by email to frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk, or give me a call on 01928 716238.
