WARRINGTON Hockey Club kept up their promotion push with three teams winning to stay second place in their respective leagues.

The women's first team scraped a 1-0 away at Knutsford thanks to an early short corner strike from Kate Connolly.

Ellen Jackson was in great form on the left wing but Warrington couldn't find a second goal and were grateful for several key tackles by sweeper Sarah Milner.

The women's second team improved their goal difference with a 7-0 win over Macclesfield.

They were 3-0 up by half time, with goals from Molly Rudd, Jess Palmer and Chloe Sutch.

The midfield of Rudd, Any Quayle, Abi Hynes, Laura Page and Emma Frew pushed forward strongly and repeatedly tested the Macclesfield defence.

Rudd grabbed a second goal, Quayle struck from a short corner and Frew and Hynes each scored great solo goals.

The men's second team had a resounding 6-0 win over Urmston thirds.

Richard Hannibal was unstoppable, smashing in four goals as Warrington created chance after chance through Noal Phillpotts' incisive passing.

Adam Garrod scored two more goals after great link up play with AJ Edwards and Dan Sutton.

The men's first team travelled to Kendal but had to abandon their game at half time when the pitch was waterlogged.
