WARRINGTON Rowing Club pair Lucy Glover and Ellie Davies prepared for Great Britain trials this weekend with the prestigious Furs Head of the River on the Thames in London on Saturday.

The teenagers head to a race off in Boston and a good performance will see them invited to a winter training camp in Seville, Spain and to further trials next year.

On Saturday, they finished third in the women's junior quads event alongside Ayesha Wooler and Lucy Stanhope out of 34 crews racing on the 7k University Boat Race course.

That strong performance, only topped in the junior women's race by Shiplake and Henley, saw the Warrington quartet finish 189th overall and this sets them up as one of the top junior crews for 2016 season.

More than 450 crews take part in the race, with all the countries leading athletes, including members of the GB Olympic team.

Warrington's first crewe was a junior 18s quad consisting of Matt Baguley, Connor Guerin, Tom Carroll and Tom Reed.

Although it was open to crews up to the age of 18 the Warrington crew were racing for experience as they were only 16.

Their result was very promising as they finished 130th overall and 24th out of 38 in their category.

It bodes well for the next couple of years as the boys reach their peak.
