WARRINGTON women’s second team kept their 100 per cent record for the season with a 5-0 win away at Neston fourths.
Emma Frew led the way with a hat-trick, while Jess Palmer netted once and Vicky Stout topped off her player-of-the-match performance with a goal.
The women’s first team fought hard for a 0-0 draw with an athletic Alderley Edge team, with Jayne Wood holding firm in defence and Sally Prince clearing a shot off the line.
The men’s first team had a mixed weekend, losing in the league and then winning in the Lancashire Cup.
Warrington struggled to get a foothold against Preston and went 2-0 down by half time. Rob Powell converted from close range to give them hope but ultimately they lost 4-1.
However, Warrington beat higher division opposition Bury in a thrilling cup match.
Mike Jones broke the deadlock and Warrington went 2-0 up before Bury hit back with three goals.
Ben Vickers pulled Warrington back level and stole the win with the final shot of an end-to-end game.
The men’s second team were disappointed with their 1-0 home defeat to City of Manchester.
Andrew Taylor and Chris Lyon created some good chances but could not find the back of the net.
