APPLETON continue to climb the Cheshire Alliance Division One table as two Warrington sides fight it out for top spot.

A 95-run victory puts them third and less than 30 points behind leaders Stretton.

Tom Lomas and Vensakar had a great day with the bat scoring 65 and 62 respectively. Captain Lomas then picked up four wickets.

The second slipped up in a clash of the top two in Division Three.

Appleton put Wistaston in to bat and saw the hosts reach 227 for 5.

A slow start for Wistaston was promising for ACC.

The first 24 overs before drinks were good with a few wickets and keeping them under pressure.

After drinks all the bowlers gave it 100 per cent as expected, however it wasn’t good enough.

After a dropped catch and a run out which wasn’t given Wistaston capitalised and managed to reach a total of 227 for 5.

Mike Cumbo ended up with two wickets and Eitchy Rashid picked up his first wicket for the 2nd XI.

The track was drying up and the batting lining filled the team with confidence, unfortunately this was not the case.

Inzy Rashid and Mike Arnold opened up taking the shine off the new ball and put on a stand of 44 before Arnold was triggered to one which was a harsh decision.

Liam Mannion came in and got out as did Dave Lomalo Lomas.

Soon Inzy followed as did Bob McDonald and Reza Zaidi.

All wickets falling extremely softly and to bowling which was below average.

Eitchy Rashid showed that he can still bat and reached 49* before Appleton were all out for 150.
