WARRINGTON’S Richard Roundell returned to his love of motor racing at Oulton Park after an enforced major engine rebuild on his Vauxhall Vectra following a failure in the first race of the season.
Always an enthusiastic racer - finishing fifth overall in his Championship last year - the time to repair the car was frustrating, missing the first seven of the 12 races this season.
For the first outing of the car after the rebuild, he was hoping it would go well but was prepared for, and expecting, minor teething problems.
Roundell was racing his 2,498cc Vauxhall Vectra at Oulton Park in the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon race as part of the BARC Club Car Championship
Starting from 12th amongst 22 other starters, he gained two places on the first two laps but then lost three places over the later laps to finish in 12th overall and eighth in Class.
After the race, Roundell said he was very pleased with the car, having had no major problems, as well as being back racing after the five month break for an engine rebuild.
