KATIE Lowery will represent the English Schools’ team at the SIAB Schools’ International in Scotland on Saturday.

The Warrington Athletics Club runner finished second in the intermediate girls’ 1,500m at the English Schools’ Championships while representing Cheshire last weekend.

She clocked 4mins 36secs during the final in Gateshead to claim the silver medal.

Thomas Baines took a bronze medal with 36.2secs in the junior boys’ 300m final, having qualified second in his heat.

Inter girls’ Lauren Ferris was 10th in the 3,000m in 10mins 24secs, while sprinter Cameron Meakin clocked a personal best 13.67secs in his heat, going one hundredth of a second slower in the next round and missing out on the final.

Mat Wigelsworth represented Merseyside in the senior category, placing eighth in the 1,500m with 4mins 5secs after a tactical race.

Warrington’s James Gladman competed in the 110m hurdles in the British Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

He finished fourth in his heat with a season’s best time of 14.43secs, just missing out on a fastest loser place in the final.

Finishing in seventh place behind Gladman was second claim member Alex Wort, competing for his first-claim club Sale Harriers, in 14.95secs.
