WOOLSTON Rovers return to Kingstone Press National Conference League Division Three action on Saturday at Dewsbury Moor Maroons after a three-week break.

Rovers have taken seven points out of a possible eight over the past four games and will be looking to continue their fine form against a Dewsbury side who were the first team to win at Woolston this season when they triumphed 30-20 in April.

Head Coach John Fieldhouse said: “We are really looking forward to getting back into NCL action; we got on a bit of a roll during June and the three week lay-off came at the wrong time for us but there is nothing we can do about that.

"We will now channel all our efforts into getting a victory at Dewsbury on Saturday.

"Earlier in the season they came to our place and went away with a win but we have improved considerably since then and we will go into the game full of confidence."

Steve Bird scored four times as Bank Quay Bulls dumped Woolston out of the Warrington Cup in the preliminary round last week.

Bulls fought back from eight points down at the break to win 42-30.

"That has been firmly put to the back of our minds as we embark on a crucial period of the season with some very important fixtures coming up," added Fieldhouse.

"We have got ourselves up into fourth position in the league table and we need to keep putting the pressure on the teams above us.”

Rovers A entertain Bury Broncos in the NWML Division Two looking to continue their excellent form of late. Kick off is 2.30pm at Monks Sports Club, Hillock Lane, Woolston.

They have won five of their last six league games as well as progressing in the Warrington Alliance Cup, so will go into the game with a great belief.

Coach Mark Robinson said: “We are really enjoying ourselves out on the field at present and hopefully that can continue for the foreseeable future.

"We made things a lot more difficult for ourselves than we should have done against Farnworth but thankfully we were able to sort things out and get the right result; we cannot afford to do that this week against Bury.

"They defeated us a couple of months ago in the NWML Trophy but we are a different side now. Our attack has been phenomenal over the past month but we need to work on our defence as we are conceding far too many tries.”
