SOME of the region's best riders contested Warrington Road Club's annual Open Four-Up Team Time Trial.
Warrington Road Club's team of David Fox, Steve Hankey, Ian Haddock and Paul McGowan, who all hail from or live in the town, finished in a strong 13th place out of 31 teams in 56mins 46secs – averaging a speed of 26.6 mph for the 25-mile course on roads that circumference Jodrell Bank.
Time trial specialists Coveryourcar.com Cycling Team beat Liverpool Pheonix into first place by 12 seconds with an impressive 53mins 7secs.
Third, only one second behind, were Fibrax Wrexham Road Club.
The fastest all-women team were Manchester Wheelers, 1hr 6mins 4secs. Warrington's event is one of the most popular and sort after in the local time trial cycling calendar.
All the teams set off in three minute intervals, working together to race against the clock, and each team only has to finish with three riders.
