Warrington athletes helped Cheshire to second place at a schools' inter-county match on Saturday.

Thomas Baines won the junior boys' 300m in a UK age-group fastest time of 36.17secs.

Sam Evans was ninth in the 1,500m, while junior girls' Megan Kettle came fourth in the hammer with 33.97m ahead of Natasha Ryder in ninth with 23.07m.

Elizabeth Wright took fifth in the 800m in 2 minutes 21.45 seconds and in the 1,500m steeplechase Victoria Ramsbottom was third in 5 minutes 42.73 seconds.

Cameron Meakin won intermediate 100m hurdles with a season’s best of 13.71 seconds, Fisayo Williamson-Taylor was fourth in the 100m in 11.29 seconds and Jamie Pickett ran a big personal best with 23.97 seconds for 16th in the 200m.

Jack Stubbings took fourth in the 1,500m in a new personal best with 4 minutes 13.73 seconds to finish in fourth place.

In the girls' events Katie Lowery won the 1,500m in 4 minutes 37.14 seconds with Lauren Ferris taking fourth in 4 minutes 46.02 seconds.

In the 800m Melissa Boyer was third in 2 minutes 17.70 seconds while Hannah Shaw got two new personal bests with ninth place in the 300 metres hurdles in 52.67 seconds and ninth also in the triple jump with 9.69 metres.

In the long jump, Ellie Baker was 12th with a jump of 4.69 metres.

The third round of the Youth Development League Lower Age Group took place at Ellesmere Port on Sunday.

In the under 15 age group, following his UK leading time from Saturday, Thomas Baines had comfortable wins in the 200 metres (23.7 seconds) and 300 metres (37.0 seconds) while Josh Herrington took a double victory winning the 80 metres hurdles and also took the high jump with 1.66 metres.

In the B 80 metres hurdles Joe Williams took the victory in 13.5 seconds.

In the girls' events in that age group Megan Kettle and Lucy Harrison took maximum points in the hammer, with Kettle taking the A with 31.92 metres and Harrison the B with 18.65 metres.

In the under 13 age group Adam Shaw had a double victory taking the 75 metres hurdles with 13.5 seconds and the high jump with 1.33 metres.

New recruit Joe Taylor also had a double victory, winning the long jump with 4.89 metres and the B 100 metres in 13.3 seconds. Ben Robinson won the B long jump with 4.40 metres.
