PADGATE’S Nathan ‘the Wire’ Wheatley is set for his second professional bout on Friday, July 10 when he will enter the ring at the Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester.

The 26-year-old middleweight, who spars with Martin Murray, is yet to find out his opponent, but beat Dee Mitchell in his first fight.

“There will be some other good fights on,” said Warrington Wolves fan Wheatley, who will step out in primrose and blue.

“I’ve been sparring with Martin and had some great sparring sessions with him and Rocky Fielding. The fight is creeping up now and I’m looking forward to it."

Wheatley added: “I’ve got to make sure I get the weight off and then I’ll rest the week before the fight.

"I’m training every night and have Fridays off work to train with the likes of Martin.”

Murray added: “He's a good lad and he needs as much support as he can. As it is known in boxing, if you can sell tickets and get a good backing you will do well because you will always take your career that extra couple of steps further."
