BRIDGEWATER High School basketball players are celebrating a third successive national title.

The year 11 team beat Wellingbrough’s Weavers Academy 75-58 in the Dynamik National Schools final at the University of East London.

The Warrington school jumped out to a 9-2 lead early on and stretched their advantage to 11 points by half time.

Bridgewater, coached by England 2006 Commonwealth Games medallist Delme Herriman, never let their opponents within five points during the second half.

Some big plays by Joe Cummins, Max Jones, Ben Goodacre and Sam Wilson stretched the lead to 17 points in the final quarter and sealed a third title on the bounce for a Bridgewater side undefeated in three years.

Cummins took MVP with 16 points, 10 assists and six steals, while Wilson made 31 points and 15 rebounds.

Bridgewater beat Harrow High School and Sports College in the semi final at Latchford’s Ball Hall.
