APPLETON Tigers women’s cricket team got their season off to a good start with a comprehensive win over Stockport Trinity.

Annie Rashid’s bowling was unplayable as she recorded figures of 8-4-7-1 in her first game for 18 months.

Her opening partner Sami Fowler also took three wickets for just 12 runs.

Charlotte Cross and Kaytlin Watterson chipped in with a couple of key wickets each as Trinity were bundled out for 68 runs.

Holly McCurrie top scored with 28 not out in reply, as she and Chloe Page took Appleton to victory with 19 overs to spare and nine wickets in hand.
