Folly Lane 12 Rylands Sharks 20

RYLANDS recorded their first North West Men's League Premier Division victory of the season in a bruising encounter at Folly Lane.

Sharks, poor in their opening two games, started the game with purpose and soon had the Manchester outfit on the back foot when winger Vinny Yeardsley pounced on a Folly Lane error to open the scoring, with Jack Lewis adding the extras.

Rylands' new-look pack dominated from start to finish but poor discipline in the first half meant they consistently gave up field position and eventually their defence would crack.

They trailed at half time 12-6 but Sharks then took full control, with the new half-back pairing of Craig Harris and Sean Boyle pulling the strings.

Rylands posted tries though Adam Thompson and Luke Walker, converted by Lewis who added two penalty goals.

With the hosts frustrated tempers boiled over resulting in marching orders for the Folly Lane loose forward and Rylands’ Matty Taylor after a brawl.

Best for Rylands were Chris Dean, Paul Reynolds, Harris and Boyle.

Rylands: Luke Walker; Vinny Yeardsley, Adam Thompson, Carl Lloyd, Pete Price; Craig Harris, Sean Boyle; Chris Dean, Jack Lewis, Matty Wilson, Paul Reynolds, Matt Taylor, Jamie Trantum. Dave Walker, Rob Cambell, Ryan Palin, Chris Meacock.
