A HOST of Cheshire Martial Arts Centre students were in action at the SKA National Kata Championships at Birchwood Tennis and Leisure Centre.

Paul Graham, 8th Dan Chief Instructor of Cheshire Martial Arts Centres, was present as youngsters Joel Eccleston, eight, Ben Booth, six, and Jacob Lewis, seven, impressed.

Eccleston, 1st Dan, claimed four golds in pairs and individual Kata, Booth, 6th Kyu, two golds and Lewis, 3rd Kyu, three gold medals a and a silver all in individual Kata.

Eleven-year-old Joshua Lewis, 1st Dan, was selected to receive The Dave Warburton Memorial Trophy on behalf of Cheshire Martial Arts Centres.

There was also medal success for Sharon Lewis, 40, 5th Kyu, in individual Kata with three golds and a silver.

Ben Hutson-Redfearn, 14, 2nd Dan, took two silver and one bronze in pairs and individual, Mark Eccleston, 40, 1st Dan, two silver and a bronze, and Lucy Clarke, 15, 2nd Dan, three silver and a bronze.

Darren McQuillan, 4th Dan, took bronze in individual Kata, while Ste Arnold was presented with his 6th Dan by SKA President Ken Gee at the tournament.

Elsewhere, Rebecca Fisher, 19, 3rd Dan, made two gold and two silver, Jessica Bate, 19, 3rd Dan, two gold and a silver and Jadzia McNulty, 13, 2nd Kyu, a bronze.
