WOOLSTON allowed Bank Quay to race to a 10-0 lead before they managed to get on the scoreboard but they then conceded a further two tries to trail 22-6 at half time.

A better second half performance gave them hope of a comeback but the visitors held on to win 32-22.

Tries for Rovers came from Ben Whitehurst, Kieran Cripps and two from Josh Bray.

Ethan Jude added three conversions.

Rovers’ player of the match was awarded to Shaun Gartland.

Rylands u15 24 Crosfields u15 10

THE game started as it finished with a poor effort from the 15s.

Rylands opened the try count and immediately the Crosfields lads heads went down.

Super-sub Denis Charnock put a fantastically-placed kick in to allow Finn Wood to drop on right in the corner.

Brad Holroyd missed a difficult kick but even this try couldn’t lift the game.

A second by Rylands brought half time with a 10-4 lead to the home side.

The second half didn’t go much better with a couple of injuries picked up the lads were playing out of position and struggled on.

Another try by Finn Wood this time converted by Brad Holroyd wasn’t enough for Crosfields to come back with a final score of 24-10 to the home side.

Lewis Burford was player of the match for Crosfields with a superb work rate.

The re-born Adam Gibbons put some massive hits in.

Sam Parry woke up in the second half and put some superb tackles in.

Leigh East u13 14 Woolston Rovers u13 Greens 30

WOOLSTON under 13s Greens recorded their first win of the season with a deserved 30-14 win away at Leigh East.

SHARKS gave a good account of themselves against long unbeaten St Judes.

CROSFIELDS’ first away win of the new season keeping their 100% record going.

Cameron Sutcliffe, Paul Mercer, Dale Wainwright took home the team trophy awards.

Chloe Mahoney kicked to convert for one of the tries.

OLIVER Scott and Dylan Braddish lead the way as the Sharks won a competitive game against Westhoughton.

It was a strong all-round team performance with special mentions for Josh Delooze, Connor Dixon and Danny Metcalfe.

Langworthy Reds u10 14 Rylands Tiger Sharks u10 24

JACK Nolan crossed twice and kicked a goal in the Sharks win away to Langworthy.

Coach’s award winner Josh Pemberton and top tackler Luke Hoarty scored other tries, with Hoarty, Callum Sherrat and James Williamson adding conversions.

Braydon Lightfoot claimed the player-of-the-match award for his outstanding performance.

WOOLSTON travelled with just six players due to illness, but all of the players gave it their all against a great Waterhead team.

COBRAS welcomed Woolston Rovers to Crosfields on Sunday for their first home game of the 2015 season.

A frustrating first half for the home team saw Woolston display good running skills, scoring five unanswered tries and some great determined defence, holding Crosfields up within a yard of the try line on four separate occasions.

The Cobras didn’t throw in the towel though and, after a rousing half-time team talk, played with much more composure, with both teams running in five tries in an exciting second half, thrilling the supporters in the main grandstand.

It was a great team effort from Crosfields with Harry Robinson, Corey Ward, Freddie Jones, Joseph Milson and Luke Field all crossing the line for tries.

Freddie Jones put in a number of powerful runs to go with his first try of the season and picked up the player-of-the-match award, with Owen Thompson picking up top tackler for a bag full of good low tackles and Joseph Milson picking up the parents’ player award for a typically strong all-round performance.

So, congratulations to a sporting Woolston Rovers team with a deserved 10-5 win and a big well done to all the Crosfields players for a great second-half performance.

A HAT-TRICK of tries from top tackler Fin Yeomans helped the Sharks to an impressive win over a spirited Leyland side.

Ciaran Card and Jamie Shallcross added two tries each, with Logan Trownson and Max Myers-Davies also crossing the line.

Kai Coulson was named player-of-the-match, with Jason Goodier taking the coach’s award.

TOP Tackler Oliver Garmston crossed for three tries in an impressive Sharks win.

Bobby Booth and Freddie Ball scored a try each to share the coach’s award, with Ryan Caley named player of the match.

BANK Quay Bulls who played away at Moorfield put up a tough defence and had some great runs.

Baylee Spencer took a hard tackle and was also the captain.

WOOLSTON came up against a well-drilled side and won a well spirited match.

Wigan St Judes u7 5 Woolston Rovers u7 Golds 4

A TALE of two halfs for the under sevens Golds v St Judes.

A superb effort in attack and especially in defence with Golds dominating the first 20 minutes then St Judes having the upper hand during the final 20 minutes.

Defence was superb from both teams with both sets of players keeping each other out for long periods.

Overall, a closely fought game with two teams who love their rugby league.
