Timperley Ladies 2nd 4 Lymm Ladies 3

WITH the league title wrapped up, Lymm went into their final match hoping to sign off in style but never really got to grips with the game.

A poor start led to an opening goal for Timperley but Lymm hit back when Helen Weston went through on goal after forcing the last defender into an error.

The goalkeeper rushed out but missed the ball entirely, taking only the player who was thrown into the air. Hollie Acklam stepped up to equalise with the penalty flick.

It seemed to be a turning point with Lymm going on to take the lead through excellent build up play - Alex Pepper finding Nat Riley, who crossed for Meg Wilkin to fire home.

Lymm should have closed out the game but another poor start to the half meant Timperley scored two quick set-piece goals.

A fourth goal for the home side seemed to take the game beyond reach but with 10 minutes to go Lymm pressure forced another flick.

Again Acklam stepped up but before Lymm could find a goal to level the game time was up.

Lymm go into the play-offs hoping for an improved showing.

Crewe Vagrants Ladies 2nd 1 Lymm Ladies 2nd 4

LYMM came out attacking in their penultimate league game of the season away to Crewe Vagrants.

Starting out strong the Lymm team obtained a short corner within minutes of the starting whistle and soon found themselves on the score sheet.

With the first two goals coming from striker Alison Fearn, one from a set piece on a short corner and one from open play, the away side were setting the pace of play leading to a scoreline of 2-0 at half time.

The other two goals were both calmly executed by Ellie Anderson, with one of her shots looping the keeper.

Crewe did look dangerous on the break and only some good saves from keeper Jo Skelton prevented the home side from getting more than one goal.

Clearly the Crewe team also felt that way as they nominated Jo as their Lymm player of the game.
