WARRINGTON Hockey Club women’s first team continued their great run of form with a 7-1 win over Macclesfield seconds.
Kate Connolly got them off the mark with a diving finish from a right-wing cross before Steph Rawlins rattled in a first-half hat-trick to put Warrington firmly in control.
Nat Long had an outstanding game at right back, surging forward to help the attack as well as making three goal-line clearances to prevent Macclesfield getting back in the game.
The scoring was completed when Emma Barlow and Louise Sullivan, two, netted from well-worked short corners.
The women’s second team also gave Macclesfield a battering with a 5-1 win over their fourths.
Vicky Stout scored three goals and Emma Frew and player of the match Abi Hynes one each in a great team performance.
The men’s first team went down 3-2 to Urmston in their final game of the season.
Steve Worrall capitalised on a defensive mistake by striking the ball firmly past the keeper to equalise.
Mike Jones gave Warrington the lead with a drag flick from a short corner, but Urmston scored two quick goals to end Warrington’s hopes.
The men’s second team were unlucky not to beat league champions Runcorn, having to settle for a 3-3 draw.
Warrington went behind early on, then had three goals disallowed before managing to get themselves 3-1 up thanks to a Gavin Brown strike.
Runcorn battled hard to get back on level terms, leaving Warrington disappointed but proud to be only the second team to take points off Runcorn this year.
