JUNIOR Warrington Athletes Sam Evans and Lauren Ferris both won gold medals at the Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

The championships, which were held at Knights Grange in Winsford, saw Evans repeat his win from the Cheshire Championships while Ferris continued her success with gold in the girls’ race.

Warrington Athletics Club had several other members competing at the event, including podium places for Jordan Jones, who followed Evans home in silver, and Lauren Goddard, who claimed the bronze medal behind Ferris.

In the minor age group, Lucia Meloni and Lucas Hayes both took third places with Lydia Blair fifth.

Sam Roston came fifth in the boys' race and was followed by Luke Gamble in 12th.

Isabelle Trevithick also ran well, finishing in sixth place in the girls' race with Jasmine Dobson close behind in seventh, while Victoria Ramsbottom and Amy Gibbons came 11th and 13th respectively.

Charlotte Stokes finished 14th in the minor age group and Megan Atherton finished in 35th place in the girls’ race.

The junior and intermediate runners now face a wait to see if they have made the English Schools Championships.
