HARRIET Knowles-Jones helped Great Britain to a second-place finish at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country.

The Warrington Athletics Club under 17s runner enjoyed a fantastic result in the junior women’s race, finishing fifth in 15mins 16secs to be second counter for the Great Britain team, who finished behind USA.

In the senior race, incorporating the Scottish Inter District Championships, Cameron Field, who retains second claim membership at Warrington, was running for a North of England team and finished 14th in 28mins 27secs.

Two young Warrington runners secured Manchester Area League title wins after the fourth round on Saturday.

Under 11s Ashley Nemits and under 13s Jordan Jones both won for the third time this season and moved into unassailable leads in their competitions.

Nemits continued her good form, taking the win in 12mins 36secs, followed home by fellow Warrington athletes Maya Evans, sixth in 13mins 3secs, and Molly Wormald, 11th in 13mins 30secs, to clinch the team win with 18 points.

Jones won his league with a time of 13mins 6secs.

Jack Stubbings also holds a league title shot after he moved into second place in the under 15s league with a third-place finish in 18mins 59secs.

Carys McAulay won the British Milers Club Indoor Meeting 800m.
