FOUR Warrington Wolves handball players are set to represent Great Britain under 21s in the World Championships' European qualifiers this weekend.

Warrington-based goalkeeper Alex Bradley, an ex-Culcheth High School student, pivot Stephen Clarke, formerly of Birchwood College, and centre back Liam Welsby, who attended Priestley College, will all be in action.

They are joined by Wolves teammate Morgan Gillet in the 17-man squad that will bid for a spot in the finals in Rio.

GB begin the tournament on Friday against Israel in Medway, Kent, before facing Hungary on Saturday and the Netherlands on Sunday.

The qualifiers mark the return of international tournament handball to these shores for the first time since the 2012 London Olympic Games.

British Handball director and England Handball CEO David Meli said: “We’re delighted to have top-class international handball back on these shores.

“This event offers us the chance to showcase this fantastic sport and give the British public the opportunity to see the best young players in the country.”
