WARRINGTON Athletics Club collected four team titles and 11 medals from the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at Bolesworth Castle Estate on Saturday.

Promising 16-year-old talent Harriet Knowles-Jones competed in the under 20s age group and despite making the step up, finished as the comfortable winner by more than four minutes to take gold in 24mins59secs.

Another youngster looking to follow in Knowles-Jones’ footsteps is Ashley Nemits, who took the first gold medal of the day for Warrington in the under 11s age group with a time of 7mins43secs.

Nemits set the standard and was followed by under 13s Sam Evans, who won easily in 9mins29secs to retain his title after last year’s gold, before Lauren Ferris continued the trend with a win in the under 15s girls' race in 14mins51secs.

Maya Evans took silver in the under 11s age group with a time of 8mins4secs.

India Hayes enjoyed an excellent run to take the silver medal in the girls’ under 13s race in 11mins4secs and Jack Stubbings claimed silver in the boys' under 15s in 17mins21secs.

The day was completed by the senior men’s race, where Tom Jervis ran excellently to take the silver medal in 36mins35secs behind runaway winner, former Warrington runner, Danny Cliffe of Liverpool Harriers.

Jordan Jones ran a well-judged race to take the under 13s bronze medal in 9mins57secs, missing the silver medal by one second after a battle over the final 400m with Alfie Bould of Crewe and Nantwich.

Melissa Boyer finished the under 15s girls’ race in the bronze medal position with a time of 15mins37secs.

In the under 17s age group, Jasmin Dobson had her best race to date running strongly throughout and moving through the field to eventually finish with bronze in 20mins29secs.

Molly Wormald finished the under 11s girls’ race in fourth place in 8mins8secs to join Nemits and Evans in taking team gold and the team shield with seven points between them.
