Moorfield 2 Burtonwood Albion 6

CENTRE half Lee Wynne took over as emergency goalkeeper in his side’s 6-2 win on Saturday.

Burtonwood Albion’s net minder went off injured but a goal from Alex Brisco earned a half-time lead at Moorfield in the Warrington and District League Premier Division.

Although Wynne was beaten twice Burtonwood responded quickly through Craig Spurling and the game then turned on one incident.

Brisco was fouled and as well as a penalty being given - and converted by Stephen Murphy - Moorfield’s centre half was sent off.

Albion added three more goals in quick succession from Josh Webster, Murphy and Spurling to wrap up a second win of the season.

Croft 3 Orford 1

A YOUNG Croft team, seeking their second victory of the Premier Division campaign, fought hard to secure three points.

Callum Douglas latched on to a through ball to round the keeper and put Croft ahead.

Orford struck back almost immediately but the home team regained the lead with a crisp left-foot shot from Sam Kirby.

Robert Hunt settled the outcome with a cool finish late on.

GRANGE Sports made life tough for promotion chasers Rainhill.

The Latchford side, with only one win to their name this term, were undone by a solitary Kieran Gannon strike in Saturday’s Division One encounter.

Winwick 2 Blackbrook Reserves 4

WINWICK’S gap over Division Two bottom club Blackbrook Reserves has been cut to two points.

Goals from Marc De Brabander and Kirk Davison were not enough to prevent Blackbrook recording their first win of the season.

THOMAS Bates scored twice in Penketh United’s draw.

United fought back from two goals adrift and it took an equaliser from Moorfield to block their second win in Division Four this campaign.

Karl Hutchinson scored Crosfields’ solitary goal in a 10th defeat from 11 outings in Division Five.

WOOLSTON Rovers twice fought back from a goal behind to earn a point and climb to seventh place in Division Five.

Yemi Adeloye twice hit the mark for Woolston, his first being a screamer from 20 yards.

CROMWELL Athletic marched on in the Liverpool Intermediate Cup.

The Division One outfit were cruising 3-0 before surviving a scare in the second half against league rivals from a division below.
