WARRINGTON boasted a host of medallists in a martial arts British Championships at Reading.

Students representied Cheshire in the annual Matt Fiddes Martial Arts competition.

Charlotte Pennington, from Great Sankey, came home with a first place in forms red belt-black belt, while Warrington’s Reece Hampton took first in the sparring red stripe and above.

Sophie Longton and Nathan Heywood, both from Warrington, enjoyed third place finishes in sparring and forms red belt-black belt, respectively.

Warrington-based Charlie Lightfoot, Olivia Pennington and Charlotte Geohhegan were also representing Cheshire at the event.

Steve James, of Matt Fiddes Martial Arts, said “I would like to thank all the competitors and parents who made the long journey to Reading and made this day amazing.

“The children have worked so hard to get to this level. All the Instructors from the various schools have given the competition 100 per cent and it has paid off in the results.”
