De La Salle 2nd 8 Warrington 2nd 20
WARRINGTON seconds confirmed their place at the top of the Standish Media Services Division One with a win over De La Salle on Saturday.
Two tries from left winger Nathan Beasley and two converted penalties from Charlie McIlroy put visitors in a good position with 20 minutes to go, when the game was brought to a premature end when McIlroy suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital.
“Our best thoughts go out to Charlie,” said captain Kev Jones. “I am sure he’ll be shouting us on next week when we play De La Salle again in a cup match.”
Warrington’s third team also grabbed a 32-10 win against Glossop and stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches.
They now lie just one point below the three joint league leaders, having lost narrowly in their opening game against Liverpool St Helens.
