LYMM crashed out of the England Hockey Trophy after a penalty flick defeat at Newcastle.

Newcastle went ahead and should have scored more but a battling performance saw Lymm claw their way back into the game, levelling through Ellie Anderson.

Chances were missed at both ends but the teams could not be separated during normal time.

Although Lymm's keeper Amy Heywood shut out two flicks, Lymm's takers could not back up her efforts, with only Natalie Riley converting.

Am inspirational captain's performance in midfield saw the player-of-the-game award go to Lisa Hartley-Woodrow.

LYMM continued their positive start to the campaign, scoring two early goals and keeping Wilmslow out at the other end.

A magnificent drag flick high into the net from Alex Pepper put them ahead, with Hartley-Woodrow consolidating the lead via a powerful strike into the top corner.

The Lymm defence performed late heroics with several goal-line scrambles to keep the clean sheet intact.

Forward Natalie Riley was a constant danger to Wilmslow and was nominated player of the game.

FOLLOWING a shaky start at Phoenix Sports Club, Lymm seconds took control of the game.

The first two goals came from midfielder Nadeen Roe – one a reverse stick shot and the second a tip in from a short corner.

Twins Ellie and Cerys Anderson the combined for Ellie to get the final tip in at the far post and after the break thw twins worked a set piece short corner routine for Ellie to finish again.

Roe grabbed her hat-trick after a a scramble in the D, before the Anderson twins swapped roles for to Ellie cross and Cerys to finish.

Ellie then sealed her hat-trick with a lob over the keeper.
