THE Warrington and District Football League Division One witnessed Cromwell Athletic beat Pex Hill 2-0 on Saturday.

Neither side offered much threat towards goal, until five minutes from the end of the first half when a misunderstanding between Pex Hill’s Holland and ‘keeper Keeble allowed Cromwell to capitalise and a simple tap-in gave them the lead.

It got worse for Pex Hill on the stroke of half time when their reliable goalkeeper Keeble dropped the ball and gifted the home team a second goal and a comfortable two-goal lead.

Pex Hill started the second half bright and energized, moving the ball quicker. In the 65th minute Pex Hill's Fonterigo hit the net, but the goal was ruled offside by match official Skelding.

Moorfield reserves put five past Grange in a 5-1 home win in Division Four.

It did not take long for Moorfield to take the lead through striker Joseph Duffy, who then doubled his tally with a goal just before the break, while team-mate Moneypenny made it three on the stroke of half time.

Grange fought hard to stay in the game in the second half in the face of continuing pressure and after a goal by Salmon for the home side, managed to pull one back.

Jeff Heaton slotted home Moorfield’s fifth to complete the scoring.

Other scores across the leagues saw Burtonwood Albion host a draw against Croft in the Premier Division and Cronton Villa claim a 3-1 win over Grange in Division One.

In Division Two, Daten thirds beat Blackbrook reserves 5-2, while Railway Rangers scored three without reply against Orford reserves and Halebank reserves posted a huge 9-0 victory at Winwick.

Avon Athletic reserves held Halton reserves to a 1-1 draw in Division Three, while Woolston Rovers won 4-1 at St Michael’s reserves.

Orford thirds shared the points with the Village in a 2-2 Division Four draw and Winwick Athletic beat St Michael’s thirds 7-0.
