OPEN-AGED rugby league players look set to continue with the option of playing in summer and winter leagues.

The National Conference League, which features Woolston Rovers and Crosfields, will remain a summer competition for the next three years after consultation with the Rugby Football League and clubs.

NCL administrator David Lowe said: “We have had an overwhelming response with 45 of our 47 clubs reaffirming their intention to play in the NCL next season."

Meanwhile, the new North West Counties League winter season is approaching.

“Several clubs have contacted us with a view to playing winter again and we are only too glad to help,” said League administrator Neil Girvin.
