JOHN Stubbs won two of Great Britain's nine medals at the European Para-Archery Championships in Switzerland.

The two-time Paralympian and current Para World Champion beat Alberto Simonelli of Italy in the compound open men’s bronze medal match.

Eventual golden boy, Slovakia's Marcel Pavlik, ended Stubbs' hopes of first place in the semi finals, after the 49-year-old Warrington archer had progressed at the expense of old adversary Phillippe Horner of France in the last eight.

Further success came for Stubbs, who won Paralympic bronze in Beijing in 2008, in the mixed team compound category, joining forces with Mel Clarke to again finish in third place.

Stubbs is a member of a GB team that is now ranked one of the best in European and can now look forward to the 2015 World Championships in Germany, where GB will be looking to qualify maximum quota places for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
