Rylands 1 Styal 2

RYLANDS lost their unbeaten record in the Cheshire Football League Premier Division on Saturday when visitors Styal came from behind to score two second half goals after both sides were reduced to 10 men.

Rylands dominated possession throughout the first half and despite having plenty of chances it looked as though the sides were set to go in at the break goalless.

That was until three minutes before the end of the half, when Kris Bell produced a well-placed finish to score his fifth of the season and give Rylands the lead at half time.

Rylands were made to rue their missed chances when Styal levelled the scores on 65 minutes.

Moments later the game erupted when Joel Brownhill reacted to a challenge by a Styal defender and both players were dismissed.

Just as it seemed Rylands were destined for a fifth draw of the season, Styal fired home a free-kick from the edge of the box with several seconds left on the clock.

“It is very difficult to quite work out how we managed to lose,” manager Dave Parr said.

“We completely dominated the first half and should have been three or four goals in front.

“It is a lesson for the players and we will see how they now react to our first defeat.”
