WINS of 21-5 were popular in the 16th week of the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association Redline Recruitment Monday League.

Two such cards were returned by John Taylor and Alan Manuel as King and Queen A made it 12 wins from 14 games in a 252-151 success against cottom-placed Grapes Inn as the Padgate outfit continued their relentless march towards the Section A title.

Doug Heaton matched that score as Tetley A overhauled Grange A 256-228, and there was a 21-5 from Gary Stone too as St Oswalds A kept the heat on their second-placed clubmates with a 250-192 triumph over Alford Hall A.

St Oswalds B just managed to keep their noses ahead courtesy of squeezing past Burtonwood A 252-250. Andy Carr ‘s 21-4 in defeat was the section’s best of the night..

Rylands A still lead Section B but only by a point following their 8-7 home defeat to Woolston A. Simon Harrison, 21-2, and Ian Porter were the top Woolston winners, while John Vizard replied with a 21-8 card.

Tetley B closed in second place with a 10-4 victory over Orford WM A, with J Bramhall, 21-6, and Ron Timmis, 21-9, strutting their stuff.

Wins from C.Dickenson, 21-9, and Anthony Rryder, 21-10, helped Culcheth A defeat Bulls Head A 11-3.

Section C leaders Stag A had a bye week but second-placed Orford WM B were held to 7-7 draw by Monks Hall. Tim Kenyon, 21-4, and Keith Lee, 21-7, were on song for Orford, while John McNamee, 21-11, and Craig Taylor, 21-14, provided the strongest replies.

Cav Clancy’s 21-9 helped Alford Hall B to a 9-5 success over Crosfields, for whom Kevin Parkinson won 21-8.

GESM A scored a 10-4 victory over Penketh BC, with Alan Sherlock starring with 21-2.
