Pilkington Reserves 3 Eagle Sports Reserves 5

EAGLE Sports Reserves got their Reserves Division Cup campaign off to a winning start at Pilkington FC.

Eagle were quick out of the blocks and took the lead when Andy Dawson beat the goalkeeper to a through ball to pass into an empty net.

The home side equalised soon after as a low shot fired past the stranded Aaron Clark in the Eagle goal.

Eagle re-took the lead when captain James Maher played in Ben Stratulis, who coolly slotted past the keeper.

Pilkington levelled after the break when a shot rebounded off the post, straight to an awaiting striker who finished well.

Dawson grabbed his second of the evening, finishing well from a tight angle to give Eagle a 3-2 advantage.

However, this was again pulled back when a shot went through the hands of keeper Clark into the net.

Eagle grabbed the lead for the fourth time when Neil Wearing found himself in space and found the bottom corner.

This was quickly followed by Dawson's hat-trick strike as he finished from a similar angle to his second goal to give the away side the three points in the new group style cup.
