NINE Warrington Athletics Club athletes took part in the Northern Athletics Championships for under 15s to under 17s and claimed three medals.

The championships took place this weekend at Robin Park in Wigan, with promising young Warrington athletes enjoying success.

Top performances came from Fisayo Williamson-Taylor in the under 15s boys, where he took the sprint double of the 100m and 200m titles.

In the 100m he won his heat in 11.61secs before going on to win the final in 11.57secs.

In the 200m he again won his heat in 24secs and then won the final in 23.67secs, winning both comfortably by more than 0.25secs.

In the under 17s men’s 100m hurdles Cameron Meakin won the silver medal, recording a time of 14.20secs.

In the under 15s boys’ 1500m Sam Rostron finished sixth in 5mins 1.36secs with Daniel Fox seventh in 5mins 3.36secs, while in the under 17s men’s 800m Owen Lee finished in fifth place in his heat in 2mins 7.05secs but failed to make the final.

In the women’s events, Carys McAulay was the only athlete to qualify for the final of an event.

Following her international debut last weekend, she competed in the under 17s women’s 300m finishing in third place in her heat in 40.77secs before finishing in fourth place in the final in 40.35secs, just outside her personal best time.

Also in the under 17s women’s was Ellie Baker, competing in the 100m, 200m and long jump.

In the 100m she was sixth in her heat in 13.14secs and in the 200m she was fifth in her heat with 27.52secs, also finishing 13th in the long jump with 4.28m.

In the under 15s age group, Ellie Hough finished in eighth place in her heat of the 100m recording 13.85secs while Hannah Shaw was eighth in her heat of the 75m hurdles in 13.10secs and finished in eighth place in the high jump with 1.45m.
