WITH three rounds of the Ducati Triotions Cup Championship remaining and his second podium finish now on the board, Lymm rider Sean Neary is determined to bag his first win.

The 27-year-old occupies fourth spot in the championship after Round Five at Oulton Park, where he took a third and fourth place.

“I’ve occupied second and third on the podium so far this season so it’s time to pull my finger out and get that first win,” said Neary.

“It won’t be easy as it’s a very competitive class, but rest assured I will be trying my best to get that win.

“Without my sponsors we wouldn’t have had an engine to compete, so a huge shout out to Matthew Sanders (MyMate), CA Drillers, Noel Gallagher, Charlestown and Dave Airey for putting the funds together to get the engine and keep me on track.

“Also great job by Ducati Coventry to get the bike built in time. It was also hugely beneficial to have Dave Hopkinson helping the team this weekend so thanks to Charlie and Lisa for arranging that and Dave for his services.

“He’s helped us twice and we have had a podium both weekends so it’s safe to say he is welcome back.”

Having qualified in fourth position, Neary took an aggressive first corner in race one to take third place, before moving into second following a pass on Leon Morris at Cascades.

Morris came straight back, but the Lymm rider was able to slot in behind him and Dennis Hobbs to eventually take third and a place on the podium.

“Although I felt I had a chance of challenging for the win I was more than happy to stand on the podium after the recent run of luck we have had,” added Neary.

“A great reward for the MyMate Team who did a fantastic job. To stand on the podium at my home round was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it.”

In race two on Sunday it was a first outing in the rain at Oulton Park for Neary and after finding himself in third on the final lap, was edged out by Chris Northover for a fourth place finish.

“Although I was initially disappointed to miss out on a double podium it was a fantastic consistent weekend all in all,” he explained.

“To say I was looking forward to this race would be a serious understatement. I have never heard a rider say they don’t like Oulton Park as it’s just an unbelievable track to ride.

“In addition it’s my local track which is an absolute bonus. The support I had was brilliant and I am truly thankful to all my friends and family that came along to cheer me on.

“We now sit fourth overall in the championship which is excellent considering the bad luck we have had. Hopefully that’s well and truly behind us and I can’t wait for the next round.”
