KATHLEEN Dawson's hopes of a Commonwealth Games medal remain alive after qualifying for the 50m backstroke final.
The Warriors of Warrington swimmer set her second Scottish record time of the day to qualify fifth in 28.55secs.
The 16-year-old, from Great Sankey, also qualified fourth fastest after finishing second in heat three in 28.56secs, less than one second behind Wales' Georgia Davies who set a Games record.
Kirkcaldy-born Dawson will race in the final tomorrow, 7.30pm.
