WARRINGTON will be represented in a Commonwealth Games swimming semi final tonight.

Former Great Sankey High School pupil Kathleen Dawson is scheduled to swim in the first of the two women's 100m backstroke semi finals at around 8.20pm in Glasgow.

Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club's Dawson, aged 16, qualified eighth fastest from today's four contests, clocking 1min 00.91secs to finish third in heat two for Scotland.

Only two qualifiers went under one minute, Australian pair B Hocking and E Seebohm.

Dawson, who will be in lane six in tonight's race at the Tollcross Swimming Centre, is bidding to reach tomorrow night's final.

Kirkcaldy-born Dawson will also compete in the 50m backstroke on Monday and 4x100m medley on Tuesday.
