NEWLY promoted St Oswalds B and Alford Hall A are making their presence felt at the start of the new season.
They lead the way in Section A of Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Associaiton’s Redline Recruitment Monday League.
Alford scored a narrow 250-246 victory at Tetley A where Mal Cooper 21-8 and Damian Carroll 21-9 were the top winners, with Martin Deakin and Matt Gatley sharing the home sweep with 21-10 cards.
St Oswalds B recorded a 245-227 success over St Oswalds A, with Ross Hackett 21-4 and Neil Dolan 21-7 leading the way. Ray Nevins 21-5 and Jim Harrison 21-6 were the A team’s best.
Burtonwood A defeated Grapes 258-246 with their top winners being D Thompson 21-7 and Eric Powell 21-10, while Paul Skyner won 21-8 for the visitors.
Successes from Colin Dean 21-5 and Paul Dean 21-8 helped Grange B defeat Grange A 248-214. Mark Budworth produced the best reply for Grange A 21-8.
Tetley B top section B following a 10-5 success at King and Queen B.
The best winners were S Brown 21-7 and M Bramhall 21-12, while Jay Pearson replied with a 21-7 card.
Bulls Head A came out on top 9-6 at Orford WM A, Jack Stout scoring 21-5 and Brian Sutcliffe returning a 21-7 card for the home side.
Vulcan’s 10-4 victory over Rylands A included wins from Colin Tyrell 21-9 and Mervyn Hollis 21-12, while Stuart McIntyre took the visitors’ sweep 21-10.
Culcheth A registered a 10-5 win at Grappenhall B, with John Taylor taking the sweep 21-4. Alan Davies was the top home winner 21-12.
Monks Hall lead section C after their 9-5 success over Penketh BC included Graham Cowell’s 21-2 sweep-winning card. Mike Glass replied with a 21-8 win.
Wins from John Heald 21-7 and Mike Jones 21-8 helped Stag A defeat Padgate T&BC 12-2.
Crosfields defeated Grappenhall A 9-5, the best wins coming from Howard Litton 21-6 and Paul Heald 21-7. Ian Hamilton took the visitors’ sweep 21-7.
Alford B’s 12-2 victory over Cadishead included wins from Geoff Hughes 21-7 and Eric Wilkinson 21-8, while James Matthews replied with a 21-8 win.
