Bank Quay Bulls overcome red cards

BULLS achieved victory despite receiving two red cards in the second half of Saturday’s North West Men’s League Premier Division battle.

Shevington led 10-6 when both Stu Shaw and Phil Braddish were dismissed, while Ant Braide was still in the sin bin.

But with the help of a Nick Braide double strike – along with a Shevington conversion miss – they sealed a hard fought win.

Kiel Hillman went over to get Bank Quay off the mark on 24 minutes after some early pressure from Shevington, with Ant Braide adding the extras.

Before the game had restarted, Craig Millington was sent to the sin bin, which allowed Sharks to hit back and make it 4-6 at half time.

The Wigan side scored again after the restart and there looked to be no way back for Bulls when – in a three-minute spell – Ant Braide was sin binned, while Shaw and Braddish saw red.

Braide returned to the action and fed brother Nick to crash over and take the lead back for Bank Quay.

Bulls extended their advantage in the 61st minute with the try of the game from Eddie Vaughan, who raced in from 30 metres.

Shevington fought back to level the game with a converted try and the addition of a penalty in the 69th minute.

Nick Braide scored his second try and it looked like the points were going to be shared when Shevington crossed in the last minute, but the pressure of the kick proved too much.
