THE Yellows started well against Lancaster but struggled to make it count until the 40th minute, when Townson glanced home Holden’s pinpoint cross off the inside of the upright to hand his side a 1-0 lead at the break.

City’s Brazilian striker Rodrigo Branco opened his account on the hour mark, Billy McKenna squaring for the on-loan striker to tap home from close range.

It was not long until he was at it again, a quickly taken free kick giving him the chance to volley home unmarked in the box to hand his side the lead for the first time.

Town still had chances to draw level, but their hopes of getting back into the match took a blow on 80 minutes when Luke Holden saw his second red in three games for an altercation with Lancaster full back Ryan Elderton. Town went down to nine men after Peter Dogan suffered his second disolcated shoulder of the season, with Branco adding insult to injury by slotting home a penalty in injury time to complete his hat-trick.

Town: Judge, Davies, Ablett, Dogan (c), Douglas, McCarten, Reid, Miles (McEvilly, 78), Townson (Ruane, 45), Mooney (Shipton, 73), Holden.
