Reid’s young side suffer

Lancaster City 5 Warrington Town 1
SHAUN Reid looked at the youth players available to him in Warrington Town’s final Evo-Stik First Division North game of the season at promotion chasers Lancaster City.
Ten of the players called on had played in the reserves this season and they were on the end of a heavy defeat as Lancaster sought a four-goal win that almost got them a play-off place.
Reid gave starting debuts to youngsters Josh Kavanagh, Tom Williams and Scott Bakkor, with Tom Emson and Rob Winrow also making rare starts.
The home side took control immediately and went 2-0 ahead inside 17 minutes courtesy of goals from Alex Kenyon and Danny Gregson.
Following this set back, Town started to establish themselves but keeper Paul Pritchard came to their rescue twice before Kenyon made it 3-0.
The introduction of Dylan Glass and Jimmy Anderson at half time gave Town fresh impetus going forward.
And it was Glass, who celebrated his 17th birthday 24 hours earlier, who was in the right place to head home a delicious Owen Roberts corner.
Town were saved by the post before Zac Clark completed a fine run and finish to make it 4-1 and Town midfielder Mike Reid miscued into his own net to complete the scoring.
Town: Pritchard, Kavanagh, Roberts (Daniels 63mins), Emson, Winrow, Reid, Kinsella, Williams (Glass 46), Hardwick, Scott Bakkor (Anderson 46mins), Shipton. Subs not used: Oliver Wells, Anthony Vaughan.
