PREPARATIONS for the new season have gone into overdrive at Warrington Town, with the start of pre-season only two weeks away.
Yellows return to training on June 27 and their first friendly match of the summer comes a fortnight later when they take on AFC Liverpool.
It promises to be an interesting encounter against the Vodkat League side, who were set up last year by disillusioned Liverpool fans and regularly attract crowds of 200 to 300.
The pre-season programme will also include games against Heswall FC, Unibond First Division South side Witton Albion and League Two outfit Bury.
Meanwhile, after it was confirmed Warrington would remain in the Unibond First Division North next season, manager Joey Dunn has set about putting together a squad capable of challenging for a play-off spot.
Although he has yet to secure any new arrivals, Dunn is confident his efforts will come to fruition before the start of the new campaign.
He said: “The preconception during pre-season is that things cool down and everything stops but, as a manager, it just gets worse.
“I’ve been on the phone non-stop speaking to players.
“We have to be patient though because players will hold out to see where they will get the best deal.
“You have to cast the net far and wide and I’m hopeful we’ll get the players we need.”
