PAUL Carden says Warrington Town took "a good point" from play-off rivals Grantham Town last night - but says it should have been even better for his side.

Yellows played out a goalless draw with their hosts at The Meres to secure a home tie in the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-offs.

Gerard Kinsella had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half and Carden is adamant the goal should have stood.

"I thought we played some really good stuff at times in the first half and opened them up," he said.

"They played the way they play. They were route one and didn’t try to disguise anything.

"There’s no set-up in how they do things, and fair play to them. They’re up there because they are relentless in what they do.

"We had a good goal disallowed that should have stood.

"The linesman has flagged for Kinny being offside but he’s clearly behind Joe (Piggott) when he heads the ball.

"He’s seen a player unmarked in the middle of the box for a tap in and they seem to automatically assume he’s been stood there the whole time.

"It was a good point in the circumstances with the players we had missing."

Carden's men had to see out the final 15 minutes with 10 men after winger Mekhi Leacock-McLeod was dismissed for two yellow cards.

The on-loan Accrington Stanley man will now miss Tuesday's play-off tie, but the Yellows boss admits he has no complaints.

"It was a daft red card for Mekhi. It was stupid and unnecessary," he said.

"He’s kicked the ball away for his first yellow and for the second one, he’s four yards away from a free kick and he’s stuck his leg out and blocked it.

"There’s no other outcome. I’d be screaming for him to go if it was an opposition player.

"I was going to take him off because the game was getting a bit needly.

"Fair play to the lads again, they dug in to get a good point and a clean sheet."
