PAUL Carden says there are “wrongs to be put right” for Warrington Town when they take on Shaw Lane tonight.

Yellows can move within touching distance of securing an Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off place with victory at Cantilever Park, but they will also have revenge on their minds.

In the reverse fixture on December 2, Town fell to their heaviest loss of the season as the Ducks romped to a 5-0 triumph.

“The game on December 2 sticks in my throat more than anything else,” Carden said.

“We have to right the wrongs from that game, but we have to make sure we’re focused on doing that and don’t get caught up in what happened in the last game.

“As a player, my pride would be damaged on the back of that result and I would be going all out to make sure it was put right.

“Some players are different, so whatever buttons we need to push for them, we will be doing that.”

A win would all but seal a place in the play-offs for Yellows as it would put Shaw Lane – the only team outside the top five who could still mathematically catch them – 13 points behind them with 15 still to play for.

Should they win tonight, the Ducks would have to avoid defeat against leaders Altrincham on Thursday night to keep their chances of catching Town alive.

Even if that does happen, victory over Halesowen Town on Saturday would secure Yellows' place in the end-of-season shake-up regardless of what Shaw Lane do.

“Each game that comes up now is bigger and bigger,” Carden said.

“It’s about making sure we’re right and ready for a tough game because it will be.

“So far this season, certainly since the last Shaw Lane game, we’ve stepped up in the bigger games.

“Between now and May 5 we have to do exactly that, and it starts tonight.”
