HE has been at Warrington Town for exactly one year, but manager Paul Carden is focused on looking forward instead of back.

The 38-year-old celebrates 12 months in the Cantilever Park hot seat today after taking charge on October 26 last year.

He has overseen an overhaul of the club’s playing squad, with only skipper Jay McCarten and midfielder Gerard Kinsella remaining from the squad he inherited.

After finishing last season in 10th place, Carden has steered Yellows into promotion contention in the Evo-Stik Premier Division this time around with the team currently sitting third.

Reflecting upon his year in charge, Carden says he and chairman Toby Macormac believe in the changes he has brought to the club.

“It’s obviously been a big turnaround. A lot of things have happened, especially in terms of players leaving and coming in,” he said.

“Craig Robinson came in on the coaching staff as well and now he’s gone. With the reserves not being around now either, there has been a lot of change.

“The things we’re trying to do are pushing the club in a different direction.

“All the things we’ve brought in are going to be good for the club and I think Toby sees and appreciates that.

“The important thing to do at this moment in time is make sure everything is as good as it can be on a Saturday or a Tuesday to get as many points, or go as far in competitions, as we can.

“We know where we’ve got to go and we know what we need to do to get there.”
