WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says his side were guilty of missing “six or seven really good chances” in last night’s defeat at Buxton.

Goals from Liam Hardy and Ant Wilson, either side of a Jamie McDonald equaliser, condemned Yellows to defeat at Silverlands.

Despite the missed chances, Carden says the overall performance of his side needs to be better than it was against the Bucks.

“Purely and simply, we never took our chances,” he said.

“I don’t think we played particularly great, but we played well enough to create six or seven really good chances that we didn’t take.

“When you’re don’t taken them, you’re liable.

“We’re frustrated that we didn’t take our chances, but more frustrating is that we know we can play better than that.”

Yellows thought they had scored a second equaliser when Rory McKeown’s free kick flew straight in, but Jack Higgins was penalised for a foul on a Buxton defender.

Carden admitted he was bemused as to why the goal was not allowed to stand.

“We had the ball in the net from a free kick but the referee gave a foul,” he said.

“He didn’t explain why, none of their lads appealed for it either.

“Other than that, we’ve hit the woodwork twice and their keeper has made a good save.

“Apart from the two goals, Tony has only had one other save to make.”
