Colwyn Bay 2 Warrington Town 3

A MUCH-CHANGED Warrington Town side had Abou Sanogo to thank as they progressed in the Integro League Cup.

Sanogo’s brace, plus a further strike from Connor Hughes, saw them come from behind to win at Llanelian Road.

Perhaps with one eye on Saturday’s clash with Altrincham, Yellows boss Paul Carden made 11 changes from the win at Barwell and his side got off to the worst possible start.

After Jamie Rainford’s shot was well saved by debutant keeper Ben Ashcroft, Jack Kelleher gobbled up the rebound to put the Seasiders ahead.

The hosts should have doubled their lead shortly before half time when they were awarded a penalty, but Ashcroft kept out Rainford’s spot kick.

It was another penalty which turned the game in Yellows’ favour after the interval as Sanogo converted from 12 yards.

Two goals in four minutes after the hour mark then gave Town some breathing space.

First, Hughes converted the rebound after his initial shot had hit the post before Sanogo doubled his tally to make it 3-1.

Rainford pulled one back for Bay late on, but Carden’s side held on to progress.
