PAUL Carden says the most disappointing aspect of his Warrington Town side’s 2-0 defeat at Ashton United on Tuesday was that their opponents “did not need to play well.”
Yellows slipped to their first away league defeat of the campaign at Hurst Cross and, as a result, were knocked off the top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Carden says his side “never had enough” to beat the Robins and keep their three-game winning streak going.
“I’m not one to make excuses about injuries, but losing the likes of Shaun Beeley and Jamie McDonald for the game was massive,” he said.
“We never had enough in their absence.
“We didn’t play well, but Ashton didn’t have to play well either and that is the most disappointing thing for me.
“They got an early goal and they hung onto it without too much alarm.
“We didn’t ask enough questions for them. We had a couple of half-chances but nothing significant.”
