WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden says he is under no illusions as to how tough a task his side face against Hyde United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The sides meet at Cantilever Park in the second qualifying round, with the winner just two ties away from a place in the first round proper.

The Tigers, third in the Evo-Stik First Division North and undefeated this season, represent tough opposition for Carden’s in-form Yellows, who are seeking a third straight win in all competitions.

Carden also says he hopes the conditions will work in his side’s favour after the week’s wet weather.

“It won’t be an easy game, they won again on Tuesday so they are on a great run,” he said.

“They will be full of confidence as they are flying, I don’t think they’ve lost a game all season.

“That tells you what type of form they are in, but we need to go again.

“I hope the conditions are better than they have been so we can get Brad Barnes and Sean Williams on the ball and control the game.”

Following home wins over Farsley Celtic and Stafford Rangers on Saturday and Tuesday respectively, Yellows sit top of the Evo-Stik Premier Division after nine games.

One player to come in for praise from Carden is top scorer Tony Gray, who scored twice against Farsley before setting up Brad Barnes’ winner in Tuesday’s win over Stafford.

“We’ve changed the system a little bit which I think has got the best out of the front lads and it is working a lot for Tony,” he said.

“He’s so clever, he’s playing on his own so he can go and show for the ball wherever he wants.

“His touch and awareness at times is superb, he twists defenders up.

“He’ll be a big player for us this year and his performances recently have shown that.”

Following Saturday’s cup game, Carden takes his side to Buxton for a league fixture on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
