Coalville Town 0 Warrington Town 3

A DOMINANT second half performance earned Warrington Town a 3-0 win at Coalville Town to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Sean Williams’ penalty barely a minute after half time was followed by goals from Tony Gray and Josh Hine as the Yellows recovered from a disjointed first half display as they went to the top of the table three games into the new season.

Paul Carden’s gameplan was ripped up barely five minutes in to the game when Liam Hynes went down in considerable pain with a knee problem, and after initially trying to play on, he had to be replaced by Gray resulting in a change in system.

They struggled to get a hold of the game and the first 20 minutes of the game was played with little incident, with the hosts perhaps shading it in terms of possession and territory.

Coalville were to rue two golden opportunities for striker McGlinchy, who first squandered a golden chance with a poor touch after a terrific through ball, and then headed over the bar from close range.

The Yellows barely created anything of note, the only time that Coalville ‘keeper Coton was troubled was from two loose deliveries by Williams.

Carden will have been pleased to get his men in the dressing room, and the impact was instant.

Joe Mwasile, starting his first game of the season, ran at his marker and got a shot away which hit an outstretched arm and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Williams stepped up and sent the ‘keeper the wrong way.

It was virtually one way traffic from then on. Hard-working Ruben Jerome could have scored on 51 minutes when Gray’s overhead kick hit him five yards out, and the same pair linked up minutes later with Gray’s shot blocked and diverted wide.

The second goal came on 57 minutes, a superb ball from Caleb Richards from deep was brought down by Gray, and he managed to beat the keeper and a defender to find the empty net for his first goal for the club.

Mwasile had a shot saved and then Gray headed over from a Rory McKeown corner, before Hine added the third on 73 minutes, a fine right footed finish across the ‘keeper.

Defender Phil Baker came on for the final quarter of an hour to make his Yellows debut and while there were a couple of other openings, there were no further goals, but it was a job well done for Carden’s men.
